Green Plastic Wood was born from Mr. Eugene De Waal’s passion to transform recycled plastic into durable, eco-friendly furniture and more. Using 100% recycled plastic waste—both post-consumer and “in-house” factory scrap, we produce a diverse range of products built on the simple philosophy: If it can be made from wood, it can be made from recycled plastic.
Our Head Office and factory, located in Heidelberg, serve as the heart of our operations, enabling efficient distribution across Southern Africa. By manufacturing all products on-site, we maintain full control over quality and offer bespoke solutions tailored to our customers’ needs. We proudly operate our own production line, extruding plastic planks from 100% recycled waste, ensuring unmatched quality, consistency, and independence from third-party suppliers.
As a family-run business, Green Plastic Wood’s strength comes from its people. Founder Eugene De Waal (Snr) leads alongside his wife Adel, Director and CEO of the KZN branch, and their two sons, Eugene Jnr and Gian, directors of the North West branch. Eugene Jnr also heads production, while Gian leads marketing.
Both sons hold BCom degrees along with additional qualifications, bringing fresh expertise to the business. Green Plastic Wood is not only committed to sustainability and reducing landfill waste but also dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, cutting-edge styles, and superior quality products.
Our products are crafted from 100% post- consumer recycled plastics, including HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene – milk and detergent bottles), LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene – carrier bags and bin liners), and PP (Polypropylene – margarine tubs and microwave meal trays).
